For Christmas, I took my great uncle and grandad to Twickenham this year to watch Harlequins v London Irish. We had a great day it and it’s nice because they used to take me when I was a little boy. Also works for football games – maybe something special like a Europa / Champions League match
This was great fun for my 8 year old – we bought about 10 gifts and hid them around the house and garden. He had so much fun following the clues to find them – would really recommend as something extra special to do. Ours was pirate themed (naturally)

No need for flimsy plastic cups when drinking your favourite tipple-use real wine glasses! No more trying to balance a wine bottle on your knees-this set will hold your bottle firmly in place!
Bought a metal detector for my cousin and her family. They love it – the kids really enjoy going on the beach and having a dig for some treasure. They are not that expensive either and it makes a really unusual gift. I got one for around £60 on ebay, but there are some companies you can find online.
Instead of the latest X-box I bought my son some wood and some nails and a cloth for a flag. I helped him do the basic structure but it is now a very good looking treehouse. Great gift idea and good for quality time. Either get a ready made one or attempt to make one yourself!
Did this for my friend – we played musical chairs, pass the parcel and murder in the dark, and his granddad (in the pic) won pin the tail on the donkey. Plus everyone was given a goody bag – absolutely hillarious – organised fun is the best!
Ok, so you have to choose the right kind of person for this present, but I bought my friend a gift to see a psychic – she always said she wanted to go but never got round to it. I went along too and have to say the whole experience was hilarious!! She was a little spooked, but I’m a proud cynic.
